Bargara Local Area Plan consultation

Bargara Local Area Plan
Residents can now provide feedback on the review of the Hughes and Seaview Bargara Local Area Plan

A revised Bargara Local Area Plan is available for feedback to provide strategic direction for the emerging community area between Hughes and Seaview Roads.

Bundaberg Regional Council Group Manager Development Michael Ellery said more detailed land use and infrastructure planning had been undertaken for this urban growth area.

“There is no doubt that the coastal communities of the Bundaberg Region are experiencing a high level of interest and growth and this plan is a critical tool to help guide future growth,” Michael said.

“The plan responds to ongoing development pressures, addresses site specific challenges and provides certainty for residents, landowners and developers.

“Residents can now provide their feedback on the review of the Hughes and Seaview Bargara Local Area Plan which includes more detailed land use and infrastructure planning for the area south of Watsons Road to Windermere Road.

“It also includes a review of the existing plan north of Watsons Road in relation to transport and stormwater infrastructure.”

The revised local plan includes information about the road and pathway infrastructure and the parks and open space required to support development in the area.

The plan also sets out a holistic stormwater solution for some of the southern tributaries of Moneys Creek, which are proposed to be designed and revegetated as a naturalised waterway.

Apart from improved water quality and environmental outcomes, this will also provide linear open space for recreation.

Michael said the revised local plan did not designate any additional land for commercial development.

However, subject to demonstrated need and other considerations, a minor extension of the proposed Bargara south local centre may be supported.
