Gin cocktails will be served at the Taste Bundaberg Festival launch ‘Let the Night Be Gin'.

Taste Bundaberg Festival will kick off with a celebration fit for party animals of all kinds, with an exclusive sunset event at Alexandra Park Zoo.

The cocktail style launch event on Friday 4 August will showcase native ingredients and local beverages, which are being championed across the 10-day Taste Bundaberg Festival program.

Guests at the launch will mingle with Taste Bundaberg Festival producers, chefs and restaurateurs while enjoying a selection of canapes designed in collaboration with Indigenous chef Mark Olive.

Mark is known for his creativity and passion, infusing his cooking with native food and culture to create a gourmet Australian Indigenous cuisine.

The tasty delights conjured by Mark will incorporate bush tucker found within the region.

Bundaberg Regional Council’s Arts, Culture and Events portfolio spokesperson Cr John Learmonth said the setting of Alexandra Park Zoo would provide a memorable experience to guests.

“Guests will be treated to up-close encounters with the zoo’s animals during the event,” Cr Learmonth said.

“There’s a lovely synergy with being in the zoo and showcasing menu items that incorporate bush tucker elements typically consumed by both humans and wildlife.”

“Bundaberg Region is the food bowl of Queensland, and Council are proud to be highlighting the wonderful local produce the region offers.”

Included in the ticket price will be a Kalki Moon Gin cocktail.

Tickets on sale 10 July.
