The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Triple M Bundy and Wide Bay musician Abby Skye have announced the return of the Next Level High School Talent Competition for 2024.

Open to all high school-aged soloists, duets, bands, and other ensembles from the Bundaberg Region, the competition will be held over two Heats at The Waves Sports Club on Wednesday 12 June and Wednesday 19 June.

The winners and runners-up from each heat will receive, among other prizes, the opportunity to perform live on radio and as part of match day celebrations for the Bulldogs v Dolphins NRL fixture in Round 24 of the 2024 NRL Premiership.

With the Bulldogs bringing their third NRL match in as many years to the Bundaberg region, the club will host the Dolphins at Salter Oval on August 17 where the two winners will be invited to perform on the media stage.

After forming the idea and introducing the competition in 2023, Bulldogs’ Director Andrew Gifford, performing and recording artist Abby Skye and previous sponsors Bout Time Music and The Waves Sports Club didn’t hesitate to put their hands up to support the competition again in 2024.

“This exciting competition offers the youth of Bundaberg an opportunity to showcase their musical talent and be part of our game-day experience, which goes to show that … Bulldogs offer more than just rugby league to the community,” Mr Gifford said.

Abby said she was looking forward to the competition.

“Next Level 2023 uncovered some incredible talent and was a brilliant opportunity for the performers, acts and schools to perform in a professional and supportive environment, through pro gear,” she said.

“It’s so cool to learn more about the young artists in our area and I can’t wait to hear what everyone brings to the stage this year!”

Applications will open on Friday 26 April and close Friday 24 May.

Application forms will be available from all participating high schools in the Bundaberg region, Triple M Reception, Bout Time Music or email nextlevel@empiricalmusic.com.au for a copy.

Spaces are limited, so make sure to get your application in early!
