Local bands will battle it out at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre in September for the chance to take the stage as the Lighthouse Rock festival opening act.

The Lighthouse Rock: Battle of the Bands event, to be held on Thursday 7 September, will see 10 local acts showcase their skills with an aim to progress their music industry dreams.

Supported by Lighthouse Presents and Triple M, audiences can expect to see some high-energy performances by established and up-and-coming bands from the Bundaberg Region.

Last year the Moncrieff hosted Battle of the Bands for the first time, with a high standard of song writing and performance on show.

The event was a huge success attracting hundreds of people during the night.

Battle of the Bands showcases the large number of local live acts music lovers have access to and encourages fans to cheer on their favourite band.

Winning band to open Lighthouse Rock

Lighthouse Rock is a celebration of Australian Rock with the Battle of the Bands winner opening the event on Saturday 14 October.

The winning band will share the stage with Icehouse, The Living End, Baby Animals, The Screaming Jets, Mason Rack Band, local musician Abby Skye and last year’s Battle of the Bands winner, Evergreen Aus.

Lighthouse Present festival director Gavin Hales said every band dreamt of playing on the big stage and they were thrilled to make that happen again this year.

“It is important to us to connect and engage the local music industry and have them part of Lighthouse Rock,” he said.

“Every band on this lineup was once in their position and it shows what hard work and dedication can do.”

Gavin said local business Bout Time Music had supported the Battle of the Bands event by donating several prizes.
