Portuguese chicken on the menu as Oporto opens

Oporto opens bundaberg
The new Oporto restaurant has an offering to feed the whole family, including shared meals and family feasts through to wraps and food bowls. It will open on Monday 25 September.

Flame-grilled Portuguese chicken will be on the menu from Monday as the long-awaited food chain Oporto opens its doors in the region.

The new restaurant features shared meals and family feasts through to wraps and food bowls.

Located on Takalvan Street, in the vicinity of local businesses Jaycar Electronics and MC Cycles, the restaurant includes a drive through and indoor dining area.

In June Oporto Stores Queensland State Manager Deborah Manietta said she was excited to bring the eatery to town.

“We think regional Queensland communities are being neglected and stuck with the same old food options,” Deborah said.

“We want to bring them something new and vibrant, flavoursome and good for the soul.

“Bundy is a regional ‘hub’ where outer communities can come together as well, so we couldn’t think of a better place to set up the next Oporto than Bundaberg!”

Deborah said opening Oporto locally would be beneficial to economic growth by providing a boost to employment in the Bundaberg Region with between 30 and 35 jobs created.

She said they were excited to open in the Bundaberg Region as regional areas became a priority, with new sites also planned for Hervey Bay, Rockhampton, Townsville, and Cairns in the next three to five years.

Portuguese chicken specialist Oporto will be satisfying hungry locals between the hours of 9 am and 10 pm, from Monday 25 September.

The team will celebrate Oporto’s opening with a free burger day on 28 October, between 11 am and 2 pm, and give away 500 free Bondi Burgers.

  1. I’ve watched this building being built from day 1 till the last work on suit this week. Looking forward to trying Oportos next week as I only live around the corner.

  2. The food options in Bundaberg are not just the same they are disgusting. It won’t take much for you to corner the market if you have a half way decent product & reasonable pricing.

  3. Why dose a small eatery need 30-35 staff? Our rents sky rocketed in recent years it’s time to move people to more hours. 25 hours+ per a week needs to become mandatory.

Rent for me went up $70/week last year & another $70/week this year. $140/week in 2 years.
