Repairs to the front and side verandah of the Bundaberg School of Arts have now been completed.

Vital repairs to the Bundaberg School of Arts have been completed with the front and side verandah of the heritage-listed building replaced.

The works, which commenced in December last year, were undertaken using materials sympathetic to the building’s character and adhered to strict conditions to preserve its heritage status.

The works and method were approved by the Queensland Government Department of Environment and Science under the Queensland Heritage Act 1992 and were designed to ensure the iconic Bundaberg structure remains in good condition.

Construction works included the removal of deteriorated joists and decking with shot edged hardwood timber decking fitted to match the existing timbers.

With the works now completed, the area is once again safe for use.

The Schools of Arts building is a venue available for community hire, find out more here.
