Audiences will be taken on a voyage from classical to contemporary music when Professor Glory Kim performs Keys Unleashed: A Journey Through the Piano at HSG At The Gardens in July.
Glory is an experienced pianist, having played at embassies, theatres and various venues including the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires.
Born in South Korea to a mother who taught piano and a father who ran a piano business, Glory started playing from the age of three and teaching from the age of 15.
After five years of study, she qualified as a Professor of Music at the age of 23 and has continued to teach ever since.
Having lived in Argentina for many years, Glory moved to Bundaberg with her young family in 2022 where she continues to teach piano.
Glory said classical music was her first love and she was equally passionate about playing and teaching it.
“Classical music is not only a sublime art form in its own right but also an invaluable cultural treasure that connects us with the past, providing insight into the human experience across different epochs and societies,” Glory said.
“I like to teach children that they can express their joy, sadness, fear and other feelings but with the piano.
“It is interesting because music can involve fun, discipline and creativity, all of which contribute to the social, emotional and cognitive development of children, adults and adolescents.”
Glory said she enjoyed both Classicism and Romanticism but her favourite music to play was Beethoven.
“His works are distinctly marked and possess a firm character that resonates with me in a special way,” Glory said.
“Performing his compositions is a rewarding and enriching experience that always fills me with inspiration and emotion.”
