The new Moore Park Beach Community Hub is officially up and running with three local organisations now calling the space “home”.
The Bundaberg Regional Council masterplan project finished construction earlier this year with the modern, multi-functional facility designed to help support the town’s growing population.
It is already serving its purpose, providing space for the local Men’s Shed, the Moore Park Beach Arts Inc. and the Moore Park Beach Association’s op shop known as ‘The Hub’.
Divisional representative Cr Jason Bartels said the new community facility was a major investment that reflected Council’s commitment to supporting local groups.
“We’re incredibly proud to deliver this space for Moore Park Beach,” Cr Bartels said.
“The Moore Park Beach Community Hub will act as a hub for creativity, support and connection for locals.
“Bringing these community organisations together under one roof in a modern facility is a win for collaboration and makes it easier for people to access the services and activities they need close to home.”

Art space opens up opportunities
Moore Park Beach Arts Inc president Trish Mears said the centre’s dedicated arts annex had given the group its first permanent base since forming in 2002.
“We are very excited to be part of the new facilities,” she said.
“To have a dedicated space is a dream come true for our organisation.
“We absolutely love our arts annex – it is our ‘home’ where we have meetings and join as a committee and display some of our Arts Festival exhibits.
“It will become a fabulous space for artists and artisans of all ages to inspire, create and share their knowledge through workshops and other events and is easy to make enquiries and book online.”

Centre the heart of community
Moore Park Beach Community Association secretary David Coltheart welcomed the new facility and said the centralised location had already created stronger ties between groups.
“The most exciting feature of the community centre is that everyone is now located in one location,” Mr Coltheart said.
“We are looking forward to the buildings becoming a vibrant, living heart for our little town and become the natural centre for events, celebrations, learning, discovery, healing (both physical and mental), community engagement and social interaction.
“”We want the volunteers who serve here to feel fulfilled in what they do and that people who gather here will gain a new purpose for living and a reason for making Moore Park Beach their home.”
The Moore Park Beach Community Hub is situated on Club Avenue.
