Work is poised to begin on the development of six additional housing lots at Abington Heights about 10 minutes north of Childers off Goodwood Road.
Developer John Russo of JDP Developments said an operational works application had been lodged and the civil construction component would proceed once the green light is provided by Council.
Mr Russo said the six lots to be developed had a defined rural aspect with selectively cleared blocks which are adjacent to Russo Environmental Park which has publicly accessible walking tracks.
“The lots range upwards from 4000 square metres. This selection of six lots, once approved, will bring to 27 the number of lots developed to date,” he said.
“Abington Heights has potential to develop in excess of 70 lots.
“The scheduled civil construction works will involve the extension of underground power, water and street lighting.”
Mr Russo said that for anyone considering a house and land package there was a display home constructed close to the proposed six-lot development.
“Feedback on Abington Heights has been very positive, with many people commenting on the natural aspects of the area and the ‘wow’ factor supplied by the close proximity to Russo Environmental Park,” he said.
“The park has clearly defined walking tracks and impressive examples of Isis Scrub remnants. Its located next to Stockyard Creek and attracts significant wildlife.”

Established on 21 hectares of scrubland with diverse ecological attributes, Russo Environmental Park is accessible through the Abington Heights residential development.
The park is under the control of Bundaberg Regional Council. It features walking trails, bridge crossings, bush furniture and remnant vegetation from the once mighty Isis Scrub.
Stockyard Creek meanders through the park supporting a diversity of plant life and fresh water creatures.
Russo Environmental Park was established with the help of a Green Corps Project which provided its 10 participents with a range of new skills.
The well-defined park walking trail leads to a high point providing panoramic views of the park and the surrounding landscape.
