Discover the magic of Lady Musgrave Island with the team from Lady Musgrave Experience by tuning into Weekender on Sunday afternoon.

With COVID-19 restrictions potentially being eased in the next few weeks there's a boom expected in domestic tourism while overseas trips remain barred.

Lady Musgrave Experience’s Shane Emms said recently there had been an increase of interest in Lady Musgrave Island from Queenslanders and interstate.

He said with hundreds of five-star reviews online it was easy to understand why the media was keen to discover the “the best experience on the Great Barrier Reef” and see it firsthand for themselves.

Shane said Lady Musgrave Island was unique as it was the only navigable lagoon in the whole of the Great Barrier Reef, and it was fantastic the Bundaberg Region had direct access to it all year round.

“The Weekender joined us on the reef to discover for themselves and give their viewers what they themselves discovered on Lady Musgrave Experience,” he said.

“The reef itself is in pristine shape and quality, you can visit all year round, it’s safe and the weather generally is much kinder than other reef destinations.

“The Bundaberg Region can always do with more promotion and stepping out of the shadows of Cairns and the Whitsundays – they were yesterday's hero destinations, but today travellers are seeking newer, fresher destinations like Bundaberg where they can combine a host of experiences, one of which is ‘The Best Experience on the Great Barrier Reef'.”

Shane said the Bundaberg Region was an ideal tourist location with its amazing accessibility as the southern gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, and there was no questioning why the team from Weekender wanted to spend time in the area.

“There is no need for an expensive plane flight anywhere – from Brisbane we are a short 4-4.5 hour drive north,” he said.

“A great way to start any East Coast of Australia road trip or plan an extraordinary holiday for the family and friends, as soon as we can all travel again.

“With everyone planning to holiday here this year – Lady Musgrave Experience and Bundaberg is the perfect holiday destination from Tweed Heads to Mackay, Toowoomba to Charleville, you have never been closer to the reef!

“Bundaberg is incredibly unique, with showstopping attractions Like Lady Musgrave Experience on the Reef, Bundaberg Rum, Mon Repos National Turtle Centre and a host of surrounding high-quality food and beverage experiences – there is just a host of unique discoveries waiting to be explored.”

The Lady Musgrave Island experience will be shown on Weekender 5.30pm Sunday on Channel 7.
