Cha Cha Chocolate is celebrating its first week in its new home on Bourbong Street with a huge cake made by Bargara Beach Bakehouse.
Cha Cha Chocolate owner Melanice Jacobsen said there were big plans in the pipeline as the confectionery company that was once a small business on Targo Street continues to expand.
“Today is our fifth day in the new store and we have been run off our feet,” Melanice said.
“There has been so much support from the local community.”
Melanice said the new store had much more space, but it remained an intimate setting full of delicious treats.
“We have moved from an 80 square metre shop in to 180 square metres,” she said.
“The decision to move was based on Christmas, customers, and COVID-19.
“We realised at Christmas we needed more space, and as we are looking to expand into manufacturing.
“We thought the timing was right and we are pretty excited about what the future holds.”
Melanice said from small beginnings Cha Cha Chocolate had taken off and was now bigger than she first anticipated.
She thanked the local community for the massive amount of support they had given her, and she said there were more surprises to come.
“We really have some big stuff coming,” Melanice said.
“We plan to move into manufacturing, and we are about to get an ice-cream machine too.
“The old-school type for those who grew up in the '90s, that gives you a soft-serve, choc top covered in sprinkles.”
