The Bargara Village development has been approved over land at 60 Rifle Range Road

A shopping precinct featuring a service station, specialty stores, bottle shop and supermarket has been approved for development in Bargara.

At the last Ordinary Meeting of the year Bundaberg Regional Council gave the green light for the Bargara Village Pty Ltd development, to be situated at 60 Rifle Range Road, near Palm Lake Resort.

According to the application, the Material Change of Use for Service Station, Shopping Centre and Showroom will be built over four stages.

Stage one will include a service station featuring a café/restaurant with alfresco dining attached.

Stage two will feature five speciality shops, including a gymnasium and bottle shop, six retail stores and a café/restaurant.

Stage three will include four bulky goods shops and Stage three (b) will feature a limited-line supermarket.

Stage three (b) of the proposed development will feature a limited-line supermarket.

The development will also feature 204 car parking spaces, including 10 persons-with-a-disability spaces and 42 bicycle areas.

The site sits close to Palm Lake Resort, which contains an aged care facility, health care centre and relocatable home park.

Once constructed the development area will be accessible through left-in/left-out only via Hughes Road and two separate crossovers from Rifle Range Road including a left-in only to the service station and a T-intersection further to the east allowing vehicle movements to the east and west.

According to the application, the development will deliver non-residential uses to support the surrounding residential development and will service the local area, with current gaps experienced by the surrounding community.

The application states the delivery of the centre will ensure that the surrounding residential neighbourhood is a complete and vibrant community, with many of the surrounding residents locating within easy walking distance to the proposed development.
