A childcare centre development for the Walkervale area has been proposed.

A childcare centre featuring space for more than 100 children has been proposed for development in Walkervale.

Bundaberg Regional Council recently received the Material Change of Use application for the centre at 60 Walker Street by applicant Rosalind Corporate Pty Ltd.

According to the application, if approved the childcare centre will incorporate 110 places and 19 staff to cater for children aged from babies to four years and over.

There will be seven rooms included in the centre across a total gross floor area of 868.51 square metres with the design featuring a traditional and timber style.

The application also outlines plans for two large outdoor play areas, 30 car parking spaces and landscaping.

“The proposed development will address the existing and anticipated demand for additional childcare places in the local area,” the application states.

“It will provide a purpose-built centre with high quality care and exceptional educational programs for greater childcare options for parents apart from the existing aging centres in the area.”

If approved, the proposed Walkervale childcare centre will operate between the hours 6.30 am to 6.30 pm.

The site, at 60 Walker Street, currently consists of vacant land and is opposite the Southside Central Shopping Centre.
