The ceremony was attended by local officers, staff members and guests from Childers Wesleyan Methodist church.

After the service, Allan spoke with great passion about his profession and the Childers community, and offered his support to local officers.

Officer in charge of Childers Police Station, Sergeant Geoff Fay, welcomed Allan to the role and said it was comforting to know that police chaplains were available to all police, staff members and their families to assist with pastoral care when needed.

Police chaplains also officiate at weddings, baptisms, funerals and memorial services.

They are there to help after a difficult or distressing job, or to have a confidential conversation about a policing or personal matter.
