The John Broadhurst Grandstand – the main structure at the Childers Showgrounds – will undergo significant refurbishment with tenders called to undertake the work.
Divisional representative Cr Bill Trevor said the upgrade would address some outstanding maintenance issues and ensure the building was fully compliant with relevant regulations.
“The contract calls for the grandstand to be re-roofed, repainted, new signage installed and railings made compliant,” he said.
“The Childers Showgrounds attracts enormous use from the local community with football codes, athletics and school sports utilising the facility on a regular basis.
“Of course, it is also the site for the annual Childers Show.”
Tenders will close on Tuesday, March 12.
