They say first impressions are everything and now Bundaberg Regional Council is sprucing up Bundabergâs entry signage to ensure it leaves a positive one.
The new signs and landscaping will replace the existing entry statements which havenât been updated for several years.
Tourism portfolio spokesperson Cr Greg Barnes said it was an exciting opportunity to market the best of the Bundaberg Region to visiting motorists.
âThe new signs contain elements that represent just a few of the attractions to be discovered in the Bundaberg Region,â Cr Barnes said.
âThe design represents our regionâs natural beauty from our agricultural fields and nature parks to our waterways and coastline.
âThe natural colourings symbolise our focus on protecting our environment and compliment the surrounds.
âIndigenous groups have been consulted on the design and have provided positive feedback regarding elements of the sign which they feel adequately represent our nationâs first people including the yellow disc which represents both the sun and our lovely climate.â
The three new signs will be installed at the main entry points to the city on Childers Road, Gin Gin Road and Goodwood Road.
New designs to replace old entry signage
He said the existing signage, which was constructed prior to amalgamation, would be removed.
âThe current signs have become a maintenance burden for Council and, due to their structure type, are a constant target for vandals.
âHaving first been constructed about 35 years ago we were certainly long overdue for a refresh.
âThe new entry signage is an opportunity to better promote the many attractions of our entire region stretching from Childers to Gin Gin and right along the coastline.
âThe new signs have been funded by the Queensland Government Works for Queensland project for which we are grateful.â
