Belmont Park in North Bundaberg is set for an upgrade after the existing playground and picnic facilities were identified as being in need of replacement.

Bundaberg Regional Council divisional representative Cr Helen Blackburn said the work would include an entirely new playground.

“The existing playground is nearing the end of its usable life and will be replaced with new play equipment suitable for children aged up to 12 years,” Cr Blackburn said.

“Parks staff will also take this opportunity to slightly relocate the playground within the park to better utilise natural shade.

“There is a growing population of young people in this area who will no doubt welcome this investment.

“I’ve been approached by local residents seeking an upgrade.”

Cr Blackburn said the existing and outdated picnic table at Belmont Park would also be upgraded.

“The new table will be installed closer to the playground to allow parents to relax while supervising young children,” she said.

The existing shelter and playground will be removed during September and October as part of the Belmont Park upgrade with the new equipment to be installed between October and December.
