Kiralee Honor and her team at The Place Hairdressing are helping to spread the ‘buy local’ message through a new Facebook page.

A new ‘Buy Local Buy From Bundaberg’ Facebook page is spreading the message of shopping locally during the Coronavirus shutdown.

The page is the brainchild of businesswoman Kiralee Honor, who owns The Place Hairdressing on Bourbong Street.

She said it was important to showcase local businesses and encourage residents to keep their money in the community during the COVID-19 restrictions.

“There are a lot of family-run local businesses that are already being hit hard by this virus, and as a passionate local and business owner myself, I started the group to rally the community to support our neighbours,” Kiralee said.

“Having a one-stop page where our community can shop and even arrange to have their purchases delivered could well keep some of this great town’s small businesses open.

“It’s tough times ahead of small business so if people shop local it will make all the difference to these great local business.”

Since its inception at the weekend the page has already gained more than 700 likes.

Other local businesses are throwing their support behind the initiative, using the platform to ensure locals are aware of their updated information including altered opening hours, new take-away menus and highlighting the unique products and services they offer.

Locals have also jumped at the chance to support the project, including Elyce Cronin who was full of praise for the idea.

“This is such a wonderful idea! I love that we can come to one simple page and find a whole bunch of great local businesses to support!” Elyce said.
