In just its second year, SC Corinthians Football Club's Spartans Football Program teams have managed to perform outstandingly at this year’s Premier Invitational Football Tournament.

The Premier Invitational is one of Australia’s biggest junior football tournaments with teams coming from right around Australia in attendance.

The Spartans were represented in four age groups from under 8’s through to under 11’s.

The teams came away with three runners up medals, with the under 8’s performing exceptionally well coming runners up in the Championship division only losing two games over the three days of competition.

All teams came up against some very tough Metro teams, many of whom play in the top league in the state and are from the biggest clubs in Queensland.

The boys played a physical, free flowing style of football scoring an incredible 98 goals across their combined 36 games.

For the S.C Corinthians Spartans, the Premier Invitational 2022 was the culmination of seven months of hard work and training.

This included untold hours put in by the programs dedicated group of volunteer coaches, fantastic support from participant parents taking players to training, games and tournaments.

There were also hours and hours of training put in by the players themselves, with many Spartan’s training three times a week with the focus on skill development, ball mastery and a passing, pressing and possession style of play.

A large part of this inspiration and style comes from the Clubs partnership with 2022 National Premier League Champions the Gold Coast Knights.

This partnership includes the sharing of training resources, invitations to Knights tournaments, access to elite level development coaches and the opportunity for Spartans players to train and play with and alongside the Knights best junior teams.

The S.C Corinthian Spartan Football Program will be running again in 2023 as it looks to continue to build on the great results of this year and develop players and teams that are competitive at the highest levels in Queensland.

S.C. Corinthians would like to acknowledge the Spartan Football Programs major sponsor, local commercial playground manufacturer WillPlay.
