Stallholders are invited to share in the fun as the Paint Gin Gin REaD crocodile twins celebrate their birthday.
Gin Gin Library will be hosting the special birthday event at Gin Gin State School on 25 October from 9 am to 11.30 am in honour of reading mascots Snappy and Toothy.
The celebration will take place during Children’s Week under the theme ‘Children have the right to a clean and safe environment’ and will be aimed at all children aged eight and under.
Bundaberg Regional Council’s Arts, Heritage and Asset Management portfolio spokesperson Cr John Learmonth said the celebration promised to be fun for all involved.
“The crocodile twins, Snappy and Toothy, have been much-loved mascots since they first hatched from the Reading Egg in 2018,” Cr Learmonth said.
“This year a new Reading Egg has once again been nurtured by our local children who have read, sung, rhymed and talked to it to help it grow.
“We are excited to see it hatch at the birthday celebration and hope local stallholders will join in the fun.”
Stallholders interested in providing child-friendly activities can complete a registration form available from Gin Gin Library.

Paint Gin Gin REaD
Paint Gin Gin REaD is a community-wide initiative aimed at enhancing early literacy among children in the Gin Gin region, supported by the Gin Gin Early Years Network.
The program encourages the whole community to read, talk, sing, rhyme, draw and move with children from birth, so that they will be ready to read, write and actively engage at school and in community life.
