Residents are encouraged to keep an eye on the Bureau of Meteorology radar with thunderstorms and heavy rain set to continue to impact the region today and into the week.
According to the Bureau, slow-moving storms in an extremely moist atmosphere are causing heavy rainfall across both coastal and inland eastern areas.
“Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours,” the latest report reads.
Bundaberg Region Mayor Helen Blackburn said residents should remain vigilant and continue monitor weather updates.
“It’s essential to stay informed and keep an eye on the radar as these conditions can change rapidly,” she said.
“The key concern is if the current weather system becomes stationary and sits over our region for an extended period of time.
“We saw this happen in Hervey Bay over the weekend and the impacts were catastrophic.”
More than 300 mm of rain smashed the Fraser Coast in a matter of hours on Sunday, with extensive flash flooding inundating the community.

Mayor Blackburn said while the situation was isolated, it was a critical reminder that weather was unpredictable and being prepared for any type of disaster was paramount.
“The emergency event that has impacted our neighbours in the Fraser Coast is an important reminder to be prepared and have your emergency plan in place,” she said.
“Please remember to check the Disaster Dashboard for the latest information, including road closures, but also note that conditions can change quickly and these may not always be listed.
“It’s vital to drive to the conditions.”
Residents are reminded to report any water over roads to the Council call centre on 1300 883 699.
As of 9 am on 10 March, the following rainfall totals have been recorded in the region:
- Bundaberg: 77 mm
- Woodgate: 97 mm
- Gin Gin: 18 mm
- Pine Creek: 168 mm
- Branyan: 104 mm
- Gregor River: 132 mm
- Fred Haigh Dam: 109mm
- Bucca (Hermans Gully Bridge): 158mm
