National and international touring acts are on the bill for Bundaberg Region audiences with the launch of the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre’s Season 2019.

Bundaberg Regional Council Community and Cultural Services portfolio spokesperson Cr Judy Peters said it was the most exciting Moncrieff program released to date.

“Following the launch of our new arts and culture strategy we’re doing programming differently at the Moncrieff,” Cr Peters said.

“The Season 2019 is a collaboration of shows curated by Council’s arts and culture team – as opposed to those shows booked at the Moncrieff as part of a commercial tour.

“As a result we have some very exciting shows gracing our stage throughout the upcoming season.

“The Moncrieff will feature a mix of international and national touring shows more commonly seen in capital cities.”

Cr Peters said the season would give regional audiences an opportunity to attend a diverse range of productions at an affordable price.

“Council’s aim is to ensure high quality productions are accessible to residents of the Bundaberg Region.

“The shows are being offered in Bundaberg at a fraction of the price you would pay at major city venues.”

Attend the season launch

Moncrieff’s Season 2019 will be launched on Saturday 23 February 2019 from 6 pm.

In addition to being the first people to secure a Season 2019 program launch attendees will be treated to the premiere of a new local production.

“Bundy Turtles at Home will premiere at the season launch. The short, silent film produced by local filmmaker David Quarrell will be coupled with a live performance by Bundaberg Sinfionetta.

“The local ensemble will play a new score produced in partnership with Topology, a highly acclaimed Queensland contemporary music group. This will be paired with Topology’s touring show Queensland at Home which features archival footage from the State Library of Queensland dating back to the early 20th century.”
