Bundy Chop Shop has brought home the bacon with a series of awards for the popular Bundaberg North butcher.

Their prize-winning cheese kabana, bacon and bratwurst sausage were stand-outs in the recent Sausage and Smallgoods Competition, Wide Bay Region.

“It's the first time we have entered in the Wide Bay Region competition. We put seven entries in and got six prizes,” Ricky said.

“That was what got us entered into the Ekka and we won third prize for best cheese kabana in the whole of the state.”

Ricky and his wife Jacinta have owned Bundy Chop Shop for 10 years and said their passion was fueled by their desire to keep customers wanting more.

“I just like seeing people come back to us happy,” Ricky said.

“Some of our most popular products would be ham and bacon and we sell a lot of pre-made meals to cater for the working person.

“We also have lots of smallgoods like kabana and pepperoni which we have always made on site.”

Ricky said he and his hard-working team were also passionate about supporting other local businesses.

“Everything we use is local. We have lots of produce, milk and orange juice for sale in the shop and all of our beef is local,” he said.

“It's all about the circle. You have got to keep it in the circle.”

Ricky said another important factor in his business was getting to know the customer.

“If there are 10 people in the shop, I would know six of their first names,” he said.

“Keep it personal otherwise you are just a number in the supermarket.”
