It may be known as Heritage Park but the Childers recreation area is now sporting a modern new playground thanks to a recent upgrade.
As part of Council’s regular maintenance and renewal program divisional representative Cr Bill Trevor said the existing play equipment in Heritage Park had been flagged for replacement.
“The old play equipment had reached the end of its usable life so we saw the opportunity to freshen it up and deliver a new, exciting play experience for local families,” Cr Trevor said.
“This particular playground is fully fenced and covered so it provides an excellent opportunity for families to enjoy some fun in the park at any time of the day.”
He said that local playground manufacturer Willplay had been awarded the contract to create and install the play equipment.
“The new Heritage Park playground features a double swing, balance board and curved slide.
“The best part of the upgrade is that the equipment has not only been designed and manufactured locally, it’s also made of environmentally friendly materials.
“Recycled materials have been used to create these products which is a fantastic result for our community and our environment.”
Cr Trevor said the Heritage Park playground upgrade were delivered on the back of other recent park works in the Childers area.
“Apex Tramway Park also recently received an upgrade which included a new playground, seating, tree planting and signage.”
Heritage Park is located on Heritage Drive and Pioneer Avenue, Childers.
