The Taste Bundaberg Festival will be dishing up plenty of delights in August, including two exclusive offerings by the team at Macadamias Australia.
The popular Farm Flavours Picnic will make a return, set amongst the beautiful orchard at the local farm, as well as a second event including a tour that showcases the legacy of family-owned Macadamias Australia and provides and insight into everything it takes to grow, process and share the premium nut.
Agri-Tourism Manager Charlie Irvine said Macadamias Australia was a long-time supporter of the Taste Bundaberg Festival and had been the venue for the Farm Flavours Picnic since 2006.
“Run in similar style to previous years, guests will be able to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the established macadamia trees and manicured lawn areas while enjoying the flavours of the region that showcase all the wonderful produce grown right here in Bundaberg,” Charlie said.
“As one of the last events on the schedule, the picnic is a good way to unwind and, of course, being family friendly represents Macadamias Australia.”
Charlie said an abundance of delicious food, inspired by the humble macadamia nut, would be served up to guests at the Farm Flavours Picnic.
“Our team at the Orchard Table Café work hard designing what goes into the picnic and ensure that we are using the freshest, local produce that represents what we have to offer from the region,” she said.
“As usual there will be a selection of savoury items, salad, fruit and sweet treats to finish.
“We will have live music and have a selection of our picnic set-ups, guests are also more than welcome to bring their favourite chair or picnic rug to make themselves at home.
“Lawn games and activities will also be provided for children to enjoy on the day.”
This year Macadamias Australia has also included a tour and picnic package that will be on offer throughout the Taste Bundaberg Festival program, featuring an orchard tour and personal picnic spot within the trees.
“The tour commences with a virtual look into the farming and factory processing before heading out into the orchard and learning about the history, growing and sustainable practises used in the industry,” Charlie said.
“This hands on experience gives you the opportunity to try a hand harvester, try the different types of cracking implements and of course taste all the different flavours (including exclusive samples from the Orchard Table café and the chocolatiers room).”
Included in the experience is a picnic prepared by the onsite café including fresh, seasonal and local produce from the region including premium macadamias.
Bottled water will also be supplied as well as a spot set-up in the orchard for you to enjoy the offering.
Taste Bundaberg Festival runs from 4 to 13 August.
Tickets will be on sale to the public at noon on Monday 10 July, with locals and visitors alike encouraged to follow the Taste Bundaberg Festival Facebook page for updates and the launch of the full program.
