A memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Bundaberg Regional Council and the Urban Development Institute of Australia Bundaberg branch has been signed by Bundaberg Region Mayor Helen Blackburn and UDIA Bundaberg branch President Kenny Festing.

A partnership to promote and attract investment has been strengthened through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Bundaberg Regional Council and the Urban Development Institute of Australia Bundaberg branch (UDIA).

The UDIA is the development industry’s broadest representative industry association and recognises that regional prosperity is dependent on the success of housing and community building.

The MOU was signed by Bundaberg Region Mayor Helen Blackburn and UDIA Bundaberg branch President Kenny Festing.

Mayor Blackburn said it marked a significant milestone, representing Council and industry coming together to address key issues and advocate for projects which would support the growing region.

“Working closer with industry in this new partnership, we can share knowledge and drive innovative solutions that benefit both the community and the local economy,” Mayor Blackburn said.

“It will also address significant challenges such as liveability and affordability, which in return will ease housing pressure to accommodate our region’s growing population.

Mr Festing said the establishment of the MOU paved the way for a collaborative and positive relationship between Council and industry.

“The MOU between BRC and UDIA is an exceptional outcome and we look forward to continuing to develop a positive and close working relationship with Council,” Mr Festing said.

“Bundaberg is one of the highest growing areas in the state of Queensland.

“Having a collegiate and forward-thinking relationship with Council is critical to unlocking the full potential of the Bundaberg Region.”

A joint working committee between Council and the UDIA Bundaberg branch will be established to act as a forum to raise issues relevant to the industry and its relationship with the region.
