They're the famous Alpacas with Maracas and at 11am Wednesday (22 May) author Matt Cosgrove's popular story of Macca and Al was read in unison by children and parents across the nation.
It was all for National Simultaneous Storytime, an annual campaign aimed at encouraging more young Australians to read and enjoy books.
Each year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country.
Alpacas with Maracas events
Bundaberg Regional Libraries got involved in the fun, hosting special reading events across Childers, Bundaberg and Gin Gin during the morning.
Childers Library featured a cute Alpaca puppet to entertain the young crowd and Gin Gin families got groovy with a special maraca dance.
Bundaberg's event included two special guests, Jasper and Oreo from Littabella Alpacas, who accompanied the crowd participating in the reading of Alpacas with Maracas in the children's section of the library.
Bundaberg Regional Council's Community and Cultural Services portfolio spokesperson Cr Judy Peters said the colourful and vibrant event was a success for all who participated.

“This event is a fantastic way to get the community together to promote the value of reading and literacy,” Cr Peters said.
“Participants were able to meet cute alpacas Jasper and Oreo and then watch as they helped share the story of their mates Macca and Al from the hilarious children's book, Alpacas with Maracas.”
Cr Peters said a competition was being held for those who attended a National Simultaneous Storytime event.
“Simply post a photo from the event on social media and use the four special hashstags associated with the competition,” Cr Peters said.
“You could be in with a chance to win $50 worth of children's books!”
