Rodney Wheat, Leon Crossett and Mitch Avery welcome everyone with open arms to the Club Hotel after it re-opened under their ownership on Tuesday.

Touring music acts, a friendly atmosphere and a whole new menu is what punters can expect from the Club Hotel after a change of ownership.

Well-known face around town Rodney Wheat has taken over the popular venue along with his mates Leon Crossett and Mitch Avery and the trio plan to give the restaurant and pub a whole new feel.

“Mitch used to be head chef at the Grand Hotel and has come back from Tamworth  while Leon was in partnership with me at the Globe Hotel and City Elements,” he said.

“We have all decided to take this new venture on together and are very excited.”

A long-time supporter of live, local gigs, Rodney said he and the team were keen to continue bringing great music to Bundaberg while also introducing some never-before-seen acts to the region.

“I have always loved live music and now that we have a bigger venue, we are hoping to take that side of things to the next level and bring out some touring acts that tend to miss Bundaberg,” he said.

“We will also, of course, continue supporting the local music scene. because that is very important to us.”

New menu brings back old favourites

Rodney said The Club Hotel would also bring back some old favourites on their menu, including a steakhouse, delicious burgers and vegan-friendly options.

“With this new menu we are going back to the roots of the Club Hotel, where it was known for its really great steaks,” he said.

“We want to get that back but it is not all going to be about steaks- we have got a bit of everything on the menu that everyone can enjoy.”

Rodney said he was glad to be part of the business venture with two friends he had the pleasure of working with in the past.

“I came in this with mates and I truly couldn't have done it without them,” he said.

“Our vision is to make this the best and biggest pub in Bundaberg and we are very ready for this great adventure ahead of us.”

After closing for a short stint over the weekend for the change of ownership, the Club Hotel is now open to the public, seven days a week.
